Margareta Moir
I have been acting since the age of 15 and attended part-time acting classes at the Mona Vale
Film & TV school for 3 years, where I was trained by respected Australian actress Bunney Brooke.
I performed in a number of plays with the Elanora Players, before taking a break from acting to pursue other career goals.
I returned to acting in 2011 and enrolled in a 1-year screen acting course with the Actor's Hub in Willoughby NSW. Since then, I have worked steadily in short films, commercials, corporate videos, music videos, web series and theatre.
I also enjoy writing & directing. I have my own production company called 'Janjechop Productions' which completed a comedy web series called 'Living Together' & a short film called 'Neighbourhood Watch' that was entered into the Creative Creatures Film Festival. I also film & edit promotional videos for community theatre companies in Sydney.
In 2022, I directed a play called "Queen Takes Emperor" written by Rex McGregor, as well as, a black comedy called 'A Body Is Found' written by Chris Naylor, for Bareboards at the Arts Theatre Cronulla in 2023.
I was also awarded Best Actress in a Leading Role for my portrayal of Nurse Ratched in 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest' for RABTA 2022 (Ruby's Annual Birthday & Theatre Awards) & Best Actress at Crash Test Drama Cronulla 2018 (Heat 2 & Finals) & 2023 (Heat 1).
One of my most favourite roles was portraying Stephanie Dickinson in 'Cactus Flower' at the Pavilion Theatre for the Castle Hill Players in 2023. I returned to the Castle Hill Players in 2024 to portray Monica Rice in their April production of the Australian comedy 'Caravan'.
I was thrilled to portray a sassy dog named Sylvia in 'Sylvia' by A. R. Gurney at the Hunters Hill Theatre in March 2025. A very different role for me which I enjoyed so much!
My most challenging role was portraying Bella Manningham in Patrick Hamilton's 'Gaslight' at the Arts Theatre Cronulla in November 2025. It was my most emotionally demanding role to date & an experience I am truly grateful for & will never forget! You can read the full review of the show HERE.
Most recently, I was cast as Mrs. Robinson in 'The Graduate' at the Pavilion Theatre for the Castle Hill Players. It's an iconic role that I'm thrilled I had the opportunity to portray. Following this performance, I played Faye Medwick in Neil Simon's 'Chapter Two' at the Hunters Hill Theatre. Neil Simon is one of my favourite playwrights & I would love to direct one of his plays.
